I haven’t posted in a while… so a quick update:
1) Clayton’s going to school now.
2) The radio stuff is going well.
3) We got hit by lightning - studio is out of commission (for a bit).
4) Our cat Jake is in heaven now.
5) My stomach’s a wreck…
On #5, I found the perfect solution:
Pepto Bismol Ice Cream

Yep. I’ve seen it all now.
Well, my dad and I went to Dayton, OH to Hamvention, and I think I brought back more than a new radio… I’m not feeling the greatest. I think it’s just allergies, but it’s sure laying me out today. It’s been two days since we got back and I still haven’t unpacked my radio! Man, that’s just wierd.
Anyhow, I picked up a new Yaesu FT-817. I also picked a few “accessories…” antenna tuner, balun, a bunch of connectors, etc. I also picked up an Arrow Antenna for doing some low earth orbit satellites.
Update:
So, apparently it’s more than allergies… I brought back a sinus infection and a double ear infection! Fun…
… and then shortly after, he peed on the dinning room floor. But, hey, he went to Tonya after that and said, “I peed!” I think we’ve had a break through!
I am now the proud owner of kimbrel.com! I’ve been watching the domain and found that the guy who had registered it (Dave Kimbrel - but, ironically, not my dad) had let it laps. So, I tried out GoDaddy’s “back order” option. For $18, they’d watch it and register it for me if it freed up. I got the email today - it was mine! From what I hear, this is not a great option for those spiffy domains that everyone wants, but for a family name, it worked like a charm!
Paying $18 sure beats the $399+ that was being asked for it a few years ago. When I first looked at the domain, some other company had snatched up all sorts of family surnames and were charging exhorbitant prices for them. Thanks to Dave Kimbrel in California for ponying that up to get the domain, and then for letting it lapse! That saved me a ton of money!
Dave, if you find this, I’m not sure what you were going to do with it (it was parked in lala land the whole time you had it), but let me know if you want to put something up. I’m not hurting for hard drive space if you want put anything up there! I can share.
Well, since I have a little more time on my hands, now, I decided it was time to get rid of that ucky green theme I had before. Behold - the blue goodness. Ahhhh - very calming. I’m not sure about this opacity business, though. It looks pretty cool, but it’s sorta sucking up the browser’s CPU time when I scroll.
ABC has a write up on the good ‘ole Town of Normal:

It’s a three pager, so look for the page navigation at the bottom (I missed that at first).
…you’ll eventually hit gold. I’ve been trying to find decent documentation on OpenLDAP, and well, LDAP in general (short of buying a book) and I finally stuck gold…
I’m guilty again of leaving my blog to collect dust. So I’m just posting. Nothing special. Just posting. Life is good. Very busy. I had a great weekend with Hearts At Home. We actually nailed all our cues. Yea! I’m still working like a dog on IronEvents and we hope to have something out in a week or two.
That’s it - that’s all! I’m still here…
Google has a great new video searching service in beta. I hit a few random links and found this little gem:
Now we know what to do with those pesky things…
